90% decided we’re liquidating the Sienna for a Traverse. We’ve got enough equity to pay off the lien and buy a similar mileage Traverse with the excess proceeds. What do I need to know about when looking at them?

Kinja'd!!!

What other 2010+ 3-row 6+ passenger vehicles can you find under 70k miles for under 10k? Current runner up is a Town and Country

My significant others parents have a 2013. It’s fine, hasn’t given them any problems as far as I know. It does have quite large blind spots due to the tiny rear and side windows, and huge pillars. It feels even bigger than it already is. But the 3.6 can haul 7 people up to highway speed no problem, and I think it gets somewhat reasonable mileage. It’s not the most comfortable, but also not the most uncomfortable.

My wife threw a rod on her sister’s while travelling between Phoenix and San Diego. Truck had like 50k miles on it. That’s all I got.

Rinse eyes with warm water for 20 minutes. If you can still see the traverse, seek professional help.

Not good at all. I had to drive one like twice, everything was constantly broken.

Based on my friend’s experience with their Acadia. Run and hide. Lots of interior, and electrical problems

2013 - 2014 pathfinder.

Decent mileage and easy to live with 2nd and 3rd Row seating.

More than enough power and smooth constant acceleration.

In the past when I have rented these I can never get the gas tank full. Similar thing just happened with a 2018 equinox I got in SLC on Saturday. When given the choice, I try and grab an Explorer over a Traverse at the National lot. Thumbs up for getting out of debt!

I’ll say that about 80% of Traverse and their GM siblings I see at work have the timing cover leak.

Can you get an Enclave in the same price range? It’s a bit nicer inside than the Traverse. I don’t know what to look for reliability-wise, but I’ve been pretty impressed with the Traverse/Enclave/Acadias that I’ve been in - even in the 3rd row at over 6 feet tall.

The 3.6 is very sensitive to oil change intervals. If the PO was bad about that, then there’s engine problems afoot.

I’d honestly probably take the T&C, just for the sliding doors, and 4x8ft behind the seats. Typical FCA gremlins, but nobody does a van better than FCA. And they are disposably cheap used. If you do go that route, get one with heavy duty brakes - they make a huge difference. If it has 17" wheels then it most likely has them.

Eh.....we’ve got a friend of the family with one (theirs is a 2013 Traverse) and they’ve had all sorts of electrical / engine electrical issues with theirs.

My favorite was when they would hit the brakes and the rear hazards would come on as if they were the brakelights rather than the brakelights...

Oddly, they had a 2011 Chevy Orlando before that and had just as many problems; they have the Traverse as they traded the Orlando in on it thinking ‘well, the Orlando must’ve been just a fluke...’

They got the Traverse brand new, so it’s not like it wasn’t cared for or a flood car or anything either...

Timing chains, torque converters, 3-5-R wave plate if it’s pre-2010, rear evaporator, trim issues out the ass, struts that like to lock up, leaky steering racks...

Don’t.

I don’t know much about the Traverse, other than a co-worker loved hers until it got nailed by an idiot and totaled.

What year T&C? I do like the Pentastar V6 but the early ones had head problems. The flex plate is a week spot too.

We’ve had a 2010 Enclave for 3.5 years. We have put about 80,000 miles on it and it had 70,000 when we bought it. We bought an extended warranty and thank God we did. We had to have the transmission replaced among other things. Our dealer was great about the warranty, but it ran out awhile ago. The navigation system no longer works and we now have a P0420 code which means the timing chain is probably stretched. Overall it’s been a good family hauler (4 kids) and I would have another, but it’s not been without its problems.

I recall hearing the AWD version had issues with the rear diff leaking. That be maybe be anecdotal though.

My Aunt had one for a few years but traded it in when they bought a camper and needed a truck to tow it (35ish foot trailer). I drove it a couple of times and didn’t like it. It didn’t drive that well in my opinion and It’s hard to see out the back. That said while she had it it was problem free and was pretty roomy inside. We did some trips to Indianapolis in it from Southeast Michigan and it was pretty good. They are big so the driving dynamics aren’t going to be great but I would test drive one before selling the Sienna. Best of luck with the car hunt!

Before we went to the Pacifica van, (3rd kid) we loved our ‘07 Q7. Much nicer than the lambda platform mates, and ours was a steal because it had 70k on it when we bought it. But drove it till 140k plus when we got the van. Only major fix was the fuel pump at 100k. Loved that thing. Just stay away from the pano roof. Leak prone in early models. Drove like a sports car.
